The simple answer to this question is yes though some devices are really maintenance free.

The more complex the device, for example the more moving parts, the more frequent the necessary maintenance.

Some component parts may need to be replaced or re-lubricated on a regular basis to keep the device in top working order.

This schedule will be discussed with your prosthetist.
